Run through the detailed itinerary of your safari below.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa

This safari commences at the point of entry into the country at Entebbe International Airport. A short briefing highlighting the summary of day-to-day activities will be recited to you by the driver guide. This will be followed by a drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route to Murchison Falls National Park. Ziwa is the only place to encounter rhinos in Uganda, and what an experience it is to walk side-by-side with these massive creatures. Other animals like waterbucks, antelopes, zebras, topis, and hyenas, among others, are also present at the Ziwa and can be spotted as you track the rhinos. Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park after your rhino tracking experience in Ziwa with an en route lunch. In the evening, arrive at your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

The vast landscape of Murchison is up for exploration while on a game drive that you will take on after your breakfast. With this large size, Murchison Falls National Park has a huge population of wildlife species, and the game drive brings you closer to the action while in the safety and comfort of your vehicle. Animals to look out for include lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas, warthogs, topis, and giraffes, among others. This game drive concludes the Big Five safari that kicked off with rhino tracking at Ziwa. Drive to the top of the falls and marvel at the strongest waterfall in the world, Murchison Falls. Witness the water rambling at the apex of the rocks, shooting through the narrow walls before plunging into the small pool below. Return to the lodge for lunch after this experience. Your exploration journey then takes you on a quest to uncover the hidden treasures of the deep on a boat cruise on the Nile. Spot several species like hippos and crocodiles, the main occupants of the river, and elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes, the beneficiaries of the water on the shores. Conclude with a scenic sight of the sun setting behind the waterfall, spreading the rays across the Nile, giving way for the night, and sending you back to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Drive to Kibale National Park and Bigodi wetland tour

An early breakfast will be served to prepare you for the journey to the primate capital of the world, Kibale National Park. This journey is full of scenic views that offer trends in the changing ecosystems from the savannah plains to the tropical rainforest. Arrive at the lodge for lunch by noon in Kibale National Park. Set out for Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a popular site for encountering several birds and primates. The flora species in this wetland are uncharted, filtering the air and opening up your adventure spirit. From primates like blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, and olive baboons, to countless birds, the wetland is a true haven for nature’s best. The refreshing breezes calm your soul as the local guide highlights some of the birds singing their lullabies. Return to your lodge at sunset, where dinner will be served with an overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Midway through your 8 days Uganda wildlife safari, embark on a chimpanzee trekking experience immediately after your breakfast. Drive to the briefing center at the park offices for a short briefing on what is required of you as you trek these primates. The rangers then divide you into groups of 8 people and navigate the tropical forest to begin your chimpanzee trek. Spend an hour with the chimpanzees after locating them after hours of trekking. Head to the lodge for lunch and check out later. Proceed south from the park to Queen Elizabeth National Park later in the afternoon. This journey takes you until evening when you arrive at your lodge for dinner and sleep.

Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise

Wake up to a tasty breakfast served early to prepare you for the activities of the day. A game drive safari puts you in the mood for adventure, and the park has a lot arranged for this experience. Arguably, the most popular park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, harbors incredible wildlife species that you can spot while on a game drive. These include elephants, lions, leopards, hyenas, Uganda kobs, and buffaloes, among others. The rift valley escarpment is also a natural site, adding to your experience in the park. Head back to the lodge for lunch. Sail on the Kazinga Channel as you encounter the largest schools of hippos and many Nile crocodiles after your lunch. The aquatic side of the park can be better brought out on a boat cruise experience. This activity lasts until evening when you return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Batwa cultural tour

Enjoy your last breakfast at your lodge before checking out. Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for about 4-5 hours of scenic views of the countryside and various ecosystems. Arrive at your lodge and have lunch. Drive to the foothills at the edge of the park to the Batwa communities for a cultural tour. Explore their cultural traditions and lifestyle with a local guide who runs you through their origin and traditions like beliefs, customs, norms, and values. Our driver guide will after your cultural experience drive you to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park harbors mountain gorillas that you will explore on a gorilla trekking experience immediately after your breakfast. Trekking, as usual, begins with a short briefing that brings out a picture of what to expect from this trekking experience. Only 8 people trek a gorilla family, hence you will be grouped in groups of 8 people. Journey into the tropical rainforests of Bwindi and traverse the dense canopies searching for the mountain gorillas. At the point of encounter, spend an hour in the presence of the mountain gorillas studying their behaviors and watching their young play and feed under the watchful eye of the silverback. Feel free to capture these memories on tape for the future before your hour elapses. Return to the lodge for lunch after your gorilla trekking experience. In the afternoon, check out of the lodge and head to Lake Mburo National Park, a journey that lasts the entire evening. At dusk, arrive and settle into your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 8: Horseback safari and departure

Rise with the sun for your delicious breakfast at your lodge, and thereafter take on a horseback safari experience. With abundant wildlife species and no lions, Lake Mburo National Park presents the best platform for horseback safaris. Similar to game drives, horseback safaris get you closer to the animals and are a form of sustainable tourism given their immersion-free measures. Enjoy the ride with the animals while traversing through the vast savannah plains. Ride to the lodge by noon for lunch to end your adventure. Depart for the capital, thus marking the end of your 8 days Uganda wildlife safari.
