Dry seasons i.e. June to September, December to March are ideal for game viewing and gorilla tracking, with clear trails and most of the animals at gathered around waterholes. June to August is peak.
Visitors are advised to book permits 3 to 6 months ahead for better preparations and experience. Wet seasons of April to May, October to November) offer lush scenery, prime birding, fewer crowds, but muddy and slippery roads may challenge drives hence making the whole experience a stressful one.
