Overview
Rwanda is the epitome of gorilla adventures, given it is one of the very few places in the world to encounter mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is a major activity in the country, and on these 3 days, expect to encounter and have a physical and up-close interaction with the mountain gorillas. This safari will start and also end in Kigali City. Below is how your day-by-day itinerary will go.
Details of the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Travel to Volcanoes National Park upon arrival in the country after a short briefing on how the tour is expected to go. Before proceeding to the park, you can have a city tour that also includes an en route lunch, depending on the time of arrival in the country. Check into your lodge in Volcanoes National Park later in the evening upon arrival, dinner, and rest.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Iby’iwacu cultural village tour

Have an early breakfast and head to the briefing center at the park offices by sunrise for a pre-trekking briefing on what you are required of while trekking gorillas. Check your gear and get in touch with your lead ranger for the assigned group of 8 trekkers to begin your gorilla trekking adventure. With many trackers in the forest coordinating with the rangers, it will take you a few hours before encountering the mountain gorillas. While in their presence, you will be blown away back the calmness and gentleness they exhibit, unbothered by your presence. Watch them feed their bellies to full with infants making the most out of their time with play. Leave the forest after your hour elapses and head to the park offices, where the driver will transfer you back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a cultural tour at the Iby’iwacu village with entertainment from the traditional dancers to welcome you at the village. Learn the different traditions of the Rwandan people, like their cultural customs, norms, values, and beliefs. Move through the lifestyle of the people of this area. Drive back to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and departure

Early in the morning, have breakfast and travel to the briefing center. Here, get in touch with the rangers who walk you through the dos and don’ts of trekking. Head out to the forest to commence your golden monkey trekking, thereafter with a guide ranger studying the movements of the golden monkeys following their bamboo leftovers. At the point of encounter with the primates, spend an hour watching them going about their normal days. This trek is easy since it doesn’t involve hiking up the rugged terrains because the golden monkeys dwell in the lower slopes. Return to the lodge for lunch and check out, closing your experience in the park. Depart for Kigali in the afternoon to the airport or preferred destination, ending your 3 days gorilla trekking in Rwanda.
